In 2019, we received three prophetic words, the most significant being a vision of a “church without walls.” After a time of discernment, we embraced this calling and made practical changes to align with it.
One key response was strengthening our Life Groups, ensuring that nearly everyone at CBTB was part of one by early 2020. When the pandemic hit, these groups became a source of strength, allowing us to stay connected and continue growing in faith. Because we had already committed to seeking Jesus first—listening, discerning, and obeying—we were better prepared to navigate the challenges that came.
Today, we remain committed to growing in our ability to listen to the Holy Spirit and respond in faith to the “church without walls” vision. You may be asking “What is that vision?”
Cooperating with the Holy Spirit leading, we want to release people to “seed” the gospel in action and words into our community where the gospel isnt know. With this in mind we have three core focus’;
1. Prayer
Prayer is as essential to our faith as breathing is to life. We are committed to being a people who listen and pray in various ways:
- 24/7 Prayer – Throughout the year, we set aside extended periods for continuous prayer.
- Prayer & Fasting – At times, we unite as a church (and with other communities) in dedicated prayer and fasting.
- Weekly Prayer Gatherings – We have regular prayer times throughout the week (see the Prayer tab).
- Prayer Partnerships – We encourage intergenerational prayer partnerships to support one another.
- Prophecy Workshops – As followers of Jesus, we believe in actively listening to Him. In 2025, we will continue to grow in this practice through prophetic training.
2. Unity
We are committed to walking in unity—not just within our church but across the wider body of Christ. We pursue this in several ways:
- Helping people find their place – If you’re new to the Bellarine area, we’d love to help you discern where God is calling you within the local church community.
- Regional Ministry Support – We actively support Tim King, leader of the Bellarine Pastors Network, fostering collaboration among churches which overflows into training and development, so that people are released into the Church without walls vision.
- Collaborative Ministry – Our pastors regularly meet, pray, and work alongside other church leaders, partnering in ministry and mission to oversee the Church without walls vision.
- Collaborative Mission. Through the year we work with other churches with missions like Red Frogs, Blue Moose and SUFM to be able to share the gospel with others in our region and beyond.
3. Building the Next Generation
Raising up the next generation of disciples and leaders is part of our church’s DNA. We invest in future leaders through:
- Training life group leaders that can seed the gospel in new places.
- Preaching School – In 2024, we launched a preaching school involving seven churches across three denominations.
- Leadership Opportunities – We intentionally equip and empower emerging leaders by giving them real responsibility, whether in ministry leadership, mission teams, or eldership roles.
- External Gospel Support (EGS) – Funded by church tithes, profits from Son Shine Op Shop, and Kingdom Builders, EGS provides financial support to individuals and ministries beyond CBTB that are raising up the next generation.
- Associate Pastor Development – Supporting those called into vocational ministry.
At CBTB, we are committed to listening, discerning, and obeying as we seek Jesus first. As we live out our calling as a church without walls, we invite you to journey with us in prayer, unity, and building the next generation of disciples.
